Such a treat to stroll through the gardens at the N.C. Governor’s Mansion on a gorgeous spring day with everything in bloom.  The lawn is green and lush.  There are sculptures, flower and vegetable gardens, beehives, a waterfall and koi pond, and even gas log fire pits.
Raleigh is (finally) Showing Signs of Spring
Really!
There are signs of spring everywhere. Â The birds are chirping like crazy, there are so many wonderful fragrant scents in the air, and flowers, bushes, and trees are budding and blooming. Â Now, if we could just get the local weathermen to cooperate and keep those wintry words out of their forecasts.
Come on. Â It’s March already. Â In the South. Â We’re ready for everything to be covered in yellow pollen, not sleet.

Historic Oakwood Cemetery, founded in 1869, near Downtown Raleigh is a beautiful place any time of the year, but it is especially beautiful in the fall.
Downtown Raleigh Halloween Scenes
Historic Oakwood is Halloween Central for Raleigh, and the neighborhood goes all out with treats and tricks. Â Dry ice, live zombies, and elaborate, ghoulish decorations await the hundreds and hundreds of trick-or-treaters who walk the streets of Oakwood on Halloween. Â These are a few of the scenes from Halloween 2013 in Downtown Raleigh, the majority of which were taken at Jesse Jones’ infamous “Halloween House” on Oakwood Avenue.
And even a few short videos:

One of the things I love about autumn is the decorations on porches. Â Here are some photos of porch scenes in Downtown Raleigh.
